Things to do in Èze

Èze is a perched village on the Moyenne Corniche, easily combined with Monaco or Nice for a half-day visit. At the top, the Jardin exotique (around 430 metres above the sea, entry a few euros) gives the best panorama over the coast, from Cap Ferrat toward Italy.

The village itself is small — cobbled lanes, galleries, a couple of squares — and it fills up fast: between 11am and 3pm in summer, the lanes and the garden entrance both get crowded, so an early or late visit works better than a midday one.

From the village, the steep chemin de Nietzsche path drops down to Èze-sur-Mer on the coast; it takes longer than it looks on a map, and good shoes matter more than the distance.
