Things to do in Nice
Nice is the base for the whole Riviera, not a day trip from somewhere else: the Old Town, Cours Saleya market, Place Masséna, Castle Hill and Cimiez are all within a 20-minute walk or tram ride of each other.
The Promenade des Anglais runs about 7 kilometres along the Baie des Anges, but the beaches are pebble, not sand, so pack water shoes. Nice has been French since 1860 (Treaty of Turin) and became UNESCO-listed in 2021 for its winter resort heritage.
Nice Côte d'Azur airport (NCE) connects to the centre by tram lines 2 and 3, and entry to the Matisse and Chagall museums runs €0-€10 depending on age and season.
